Episode one: scuba diving

I grew up as a kid thinking that “Explorer” was a job. Someone’s job out there was to go check stuff out. I thought the idea of exploration required all these skills that were just badass to have! The physical ability, wilderness training, first aid, shit even weapons training. (ahem… archery) I just wanted to be Laura Croft or Rouge from X-Men as a young girl. When I left New York, I knew I wanted to try water sports and activities, and since I had already got certified in Free Diving, scuba was next on the list. Ocean exploration was an option here in Bali, and I chose Purple Dive Penida, a female-owned dive school in Nusa Penida, to get started.

Recreational diving was so lovely I decided to go on my first exploratory dive as well.
